Tourism Argentina Continues Rapid Growth

The arrival of foreign tourists to Argentina increased by 4.9% in June of 2017 compared to the same time last year. A whopping 163,200 people entered the country to enjoy vacations in all regions, with Buenos Aires topping the list of favorite destinations.

The records published in the INDEC International Tourism Survey (ETI), prepared jointly with the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur), calculate the movement registered in that month in the international airports of Ezeiza and Jorge Newbery Airport.

Brazilians constitute the largest group that visits Argentina with 33.5% of foreign tourists coming from the neighboring country, while 16.4% travel from Europe. In 2016 alone, a total of 887,022 tourists arrived from Brazil and, given these numbers and other factors, the goal of the national government for 2017 is to exceed one million Brazilian tourists. To reach this goal, the government pushed back taxes on hotels and new flights from Brazil.

According to recent surveys, foreign tourists stayed in Argentina for 13 nights on average (with an average daily cost of US $ 108).
