The Argentine capital Buenos Aires now ranks 25th, above all other cities in Latin America, Portugal, and Spain, in the University Raking QS 2018 (Ranking Universitario QS2018) that chooses the best schools in the world.

Fernando Straface, Secretary General of International Relations of the City of Buenos Aires, mentioned that the amount of international students is a distinctive characteristic of the global cities improves talent movement and knowledge production and that Buenos Aires is the capital of talent in Latin America. Buenos Aires to allow food trucks in neighborhoods

Until now, food trucks have only been allowed in Buenos Aires to work at private events. Now, the city has announced that starting February, the food selling vehicles can operate in the following neighborhoods of Buenos Aires: Parque Patricios, Caballito and Recoleta.

Throughout the upcoming months the parks Chacabuco, Avellaneda (Parque Avellaneda), Sarmiento (Saavedra) and Los Andes (Chacarita) plus the Mafalda Square (Colegiales) will be conquered by the food vending trucks.

Spots for the trucks will be limited and strict rules have been applied when picking the locations (more…)

New “Red Subte” System in Buenos Aires to protect commuters from rising transportation costs

The costs for public transportation in Buenos Aires are rising. According to Transportation Minister Guillermo Dietrich, the fares of transport services within the City of Buenos Aires, as well as for the operators of the routes in the Greater Buenos Aires area will raise in February 2018.

To protect commuters in Buenos Aires, the new Red SUBTE system will be implemented. People who take the train, bus, and subway in Buenos Aires regularly and also have to switch between multiple services to get to their destination (more…)

Buenos Aires to Host the 2018 Youth Olympics

From 6 till 18 October 2018, Buenos Aires will host the third Summer Youth Olympic Games. Young athletes from 200 countries worldwide will come to the Argentine capital. Promoted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), 4800 athletes from 15 till 18 years old will battle in different sports categories. During two weeks, 185 events will take place in 26 different sports. Various sports venues such as the new Olympic Village in Villa Soldati will host the event. Buenos Aires Rated as Top Worldwide Gastronomic Destination

Buenos Aires continues to improve its position among the world´s top gastronomic cities in the rankings. This year, it placed 37th among the 100 best cities in the world to eat, in the traditional list made by Caterwings, a global catering company that every year produces the esteemed highly sought-after rankings.

Buenos Aires received a total score of 6.63 which takes into account restaurant reviews, the number and variety of street food venues, the quality of the ingredients and the average price. (more…)

26th LGBTIQ National Pride March Held in Buenos Aires

The 26th LGBTIQ National Pride March was held in the City of Buenos Aires as marchers called for the cessation of femicide and institutional violence.

The march gathered a large crowd as they reached the National Congress under the central slogan of “Enough femicides to transvestites, transsexuals and transgenders, enough institutional violence, pride to defend rights conquered.”

Ramiro Villaverde y Fernanda Curaqueo, some of the first leaders in the LGBTIQ scene and the leaders of the event, were proud of the turnout that seems to signal a bright future (more…)

Important Swiss Art Fair “Art Basel” in Buenos Aires

Finally the moment arrived: the great Swiss art fair, Art Basel (the most important in the world), began a new and ambitious project in Buenos Aires that was kept in secret for almost a year. Under the Art Basel Cities program, Buenos Aires hosted a delegation of around forty museum directors, curators, specialists and collectors from all over the world, such as Jean de Loisy, director of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.

Frida Kahlo as well as other masters of Mexican Art such as Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros and José Clemente Orozco will be exhibited starting this week until February 19 in a show at the Museum of Latin American Art in Buenos Aires (MALBA). “Modern Mexico. Vanguardia y Revolución “, organized together with the National Museum of Art of Mexico, brought to Buenos Aires for the first time 170 pieces of art from more than 60 authors representing different modernist aesthetics that took place in Mexico during the first half of the twentieth century. University Buenos Aires Ranked in Top Ten South America

This year´s 2018 QS Latin American Survey has, for the first time, ranked the University of Buenos Aires as one of the top ten universities in South America. The prestigious list ranked the University of Buenos Aires as 75th in the world earlier this year and has steadily rated the university more positively with each successive year since 2014.

QS, or Quacquarelli Symonds, the British company who has specialized in educational rankings since 1990, uses five criterion when making their determination: employability among graduates, research impact, and productivity (more…)
