In 1986, a group of feminine artists instigated an art show called Mitominas with the intent to create a movement for females in the art community.

Thirty years later, the show has returned. However, the hopeful themes of feminism at the end of the 1900s has been replaced by the major gender issues that plague the modern world. This new show presents the role that females have in today´s society.

According to La Nación, 8% of the works of art in the National Museum of Fine Arts are done by women artists. Similarly, a general statistic declares that just 30% of contemporary art in Buenos Aires is by females.

With another show of Mitominas, artists in the Buenos Aires community attempts to call for an end of so called ´´femicide,´´ to promote equal rights among both genders and to leave machismo in the past.
On an international level, there is a show called the Radical Woman Show that is set to be on display in 2017 in Los Angeles, and there is to be an exhibit featuring Latin American Art.

In Argentina itself, the Contemporary Museum of Art in Buenos Aires has declared 2016 to be an all-woman´s year. This means that exhibitions will only display works by women artists and will be curated by female curators.

In this way, the community in Buenos Aires is taking steps to promote and exhibit female artists in society.
