The government of “la Ciudad de Buenos Aires” wants to encourage the use of bicycles in the city, says “Coches Furgones”. A possible project is introducing special wagons for subtes to take your bike with you, like it happens with normal trains.

Since 2009 BA invested in new cycle pads and other infrastructure for cyclers. This is why the amount of people who prefer going to school/work has increased by 5 times as much as before 2009.The problem for Buenos Aires is that the city is more than 203.3km² big, and that makes going from for example the north to the south impossible by bike. “A solution for this problem could be making it possible to take a bike on the subte”, says BA representative Arce.

Something to think about is what will this mean for rush hours. Today rush hours are really delaying subtes because of the huge amount of passengers. Letting people take their bike with them will lead to even larger delays.

Taking your bike will be something for the future, hopefully for a lot of Porteños the near future.
