Since the 13th of April, 2016, Uber is launched in Buenos Aires. Uber is an application which can be used to submit a trip request and get transportation for a lower price than the regular taxis in Buenos Aires.

As to be expected, the taxi unions from Buenos Aires are not happy. On Friday April 15th, there was a big anti Uber protest in Buenos Aires that started at 10.00. Drivers announced there would be roadblocks throughout the city in at least 26 different points.

President Macri expressed he is on the side of the Taxi’s in this Uber debate, and that Uber vehicles “will be towed if found”. That was not a lie, because it was on that same day that a Uber driver received a fine of AR$77,000 in the neighborhood of Caballito.
