Jorge Zorreguieta, father of Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, did not pass away. Last week several media sources reported his death. Queen Maxima flew to Argentina rather suddenly to visit her father. The news of his passing away was rectified quickly. The Fundaleu hospital were Zorreguieta was being treated confirms he is alive. He is back home, in a stable condition and has even been spotted while attending a polo match in Buenos Aires.

The 86 year old and has been suffering from leukemia for years. The former Minister of Agriculture of Argentina served under the regime of General Jorge Videla, a dictator responsible for kidnappings and murders in his country. The marriage of his daughter Máxima to the Dutch Crown Prince has therefor been controversial.
